IEEE 802.1 TSN Central Ring: 802.1Qbv Time-Aware Shaper and 802.1CB Frame Replication
Guaranteeing deterministic, zero-congestion data transit between Zone Controllers and central HPCs using IEEE Time-Sensitive Networking standards.
Standard Ethernet is non-deterministic: under heavy load, packet collisions and buffer bloat cause unpredictable delays. In automotive zonal networks, safety-critical radar and steering data must share the physical backbone with bulk camera video and infotainment streams.
IEEE 802.1 Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) enforces hard real-time determinism: • IEEE 802.1AS (gPTP): Synchronizes all vehicle nodes to a sub-microsecond common grandmaster clock. • IEEE 802.1Qbv (Time-Aware Shaper): Divides transmission time into repeating cycles, reserving dedicated transmission gates exclusively for safety-critical traffic, guaranteeing zero queuing delay. • IEEE 802.1CB (Frame Replication and Elimination): Transmits duplicate frames across redundant ring links, ensuring zero-packet-loss communication even during physical cable severance.
